Lasallian Mission is founded on social justice : Save the children from Injustices and affirm God’s presence in their lives. That they are worthy, loved and they have a mission

In 2021 – Lasallian Around the World

– 1,125 educational works 

– 1M children/student beneficiaries with educational support in most fragile areas 

– 3,116 Lasallian Brothers 

– 103,003 lay collaborators/mission partners 

– 79 countries

Social Injustices in SJBDLS time as administrator from 1679 (start of 1st school) - 1719 (death)

due to poverty, many children did not have access to education  (Fecker, Greenwood, Harrigan, 2010) 

  1. they could not read or write using Latin, the language used in education.  French, the local language was not used.  
  2. rejected and unloved 

the first volunteer teachers St. LaSalle worked with lacked training and support

  1. the children’s natural abilities were underdeveloped or undeveloped 
  2. they could not read or write in their local language 
  3. rejected and unloved 
  4. children with special learning needs were excluded 
  5. working adults remain uneducated
  6. townsfolk were excluded from participating in community work of the Brothers
