
FSL Storytelling and Poetry Workshop

CEAD is facilitating a special session on FSL Storytelling and Poetry workshop for winners in the competition held as part of the CEAD-MLITEDCE Innovations and Inspirations Launch to enhance and polish their work prior to publication.
Other participants include Benilde School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies faculty and students, Benilde Antipolo Deaf TCP, Benilde alumni and PSD.
FSL poetry is a unique form of artistic expression that incorporates various elements such as role playing, rhythms and spatial reference and non-manual signals such as facial expressions and body movements to convey emotions and messages and create a rich and engaging piece of Deaf literature.
FSL storytellers can create original stories or translate existing ones. In this workshop, the storytelling focused on “Education Journey through Resilience in Deaf life.”
The visual and expressive nature of FSL allows storytellers to effectively convey emotions, settings and character dynamics and thus engage and captivate their audience, mainly Deaf students. By translating stories into FSL, storytellers can make the Deaf audience enjoy and understand a variety of stories told in FSL that are meaningful to them.
Through FSL storytelling, the Filipino Deaf community’s rich heritage and stories are preserved and celebrated.
