CEAD and Benilde Deaf School pilot tested the development of FSL learning materials according to the lesson content of BDS curriculum. Select lesson topics, storybooks, and comprehension checks were made accessible in FSL. These materials show proficient FSL signers that showcase FSL grammar for content comprehension and language study in class. In addition, the signers in the learning materials, who are Deaf adults may serve as a positive influence on the well-being of the Deaf learners viewing the material.

This partnership supports BDS’s goal to be the exemplary Bilingual-Bicultural Deaf Education school in the country.
By developing Filipino Sign Language (FSL) learning materials and documenting best practices and its impact on Deaf Learners together, the CEAD-BDS collaboration helps Benilde replicate the positive results in BDS which when shared with other Deaf schools can help alleviate learning gaps among Deaf children.

To-date, the partnership has produced over 10 FSL videos, with two more in progress, and a bilingual storybook.
